Lately, I’ve been on Pinterest way too much (as I’m sure many of you can relate to). I’ve been busy gathering new ideas for decorating my apartment bedroom next year! The housing system is unique at Notre Dame. Instead of spending the majority of college life living in an apartment, Notre Dame students spend the majority of their college life living in dorms. The dorms at Notre Dame are different than the cliché cinderblock walled prisons that are equated to most college dorms. The majority of dorms on campus are quite old. In fact, the dorm I’m currently living in was built in the 50s! Every dorm has a unique floor plan and interior design, while all looking uniform on the outside. Students typically live in the same dorm every year, but can choose to switch to different rooms from year to year. Because there is no Greek Life at Notre Dame, dorm life is an opportunity for students to be involved in a community with those they live with. The dorms become like a sorority in a way, with planned retreats, community outreach events, fundraising opportunities, intramural sports, and resident gatherings.
Being a senior next year, I will transition from living on campus in a dorm to off-campus apartment. I am so excited! I am thrilled with the opportunity to have a room that is completely “my space,” being able to decorate to my tastes and keep my room as clean as I want (which is very clean). When it comes to decorating, my first go-to is Pinterest for laying out my ideas in one space.
Paris, of course! Think purple, pink, and cream. Flowers, beautiful balconies, and French macarons.
A place to relax after a long day.
Simple, clean, and organized.
Fanciful lights to add some whimsy.
Clever wall art, travel-inspired
